I am looking to get a new mousepad to work along with my Microsoft Wheelmouse Optical. This mousepad will be generally used for FPS, so I need a mousepad that is very acurrate, and can glide considerably well. Right now I am using a white peice of paper taped to my wooden desk. Can someone please recommend me a good gaming mousepad and/or provide me a link?

I don't know if there is any one good mouse pad. As long as the mouse 'glides' well. Oh, and solid colors work better for optical mice.

Thanks for the info so far.

I was given a link to a mousepad called the XTrac Pro HS, which claims it's design makes it more accurate for gaming. I just wanted to know if these kinds of mousepads are the kinds I should be looking at. http://www.xtracpads.com/prohs.htm

IMHO this would make it harder for the mouse to track right. However, I know little or nothing about this subject. I just heard that solid color works better which would make sense to me. If these fancy mousepads did actually work I think the difference would be negligible. I would save my money for something else.

btw, there is this stuff, 'Liquid,' that is supposed to make your mouse slide better.

i dont use a mousepad I just use the wood from my desk with my optical mouse. works great. I htougt you only needed a mousepad if your mouse has a ball?

I think you are partially right kidrock. Mousepads were intended for trackball mice but the grains on the desk supposidly make it work less proficiently. Same with other 'busy' mouspads.

look up the steelpad. I love mine. Ya gotta get one of the earlier revisions though. The new ones aren't made of steel. Ha.

You don't need mousepads for optical mice. Mousepads are usually only used for trackball mice.

Go buy a funcpad then tell me optical mice don't need mousepads.

I'll give one a look, MaxiKana. Do you have a link to price and pic?

I've got a link to a finnish site but I don't think that they will send it abroad :p

Also you've got to keep in mind that I used a white paper before getting my funcpad, so that might be one factor to why I think it pwns.

Uh...rather big, don't you think MaxiKana? 8x11!? And also pricey for a mouse pad. But I'll give it a try.
