can you uninstall HL2 without uninstalling steam?

Its 2 gigs so far.. and if its not going to be cheaper to buy over steam or be released any earlier on steam I plan on uninstalling it and getting a box and cd instead.

But of course if its released on steam immediately which i dont see why not other than legal issues. Then I will finish the download.

I believe you can install it from your steam download, and not activate it. Then when you purchase it from the store, you just have to put in your cd-key from the box and you're ready to go - no need to install it from the CDs, and no need to uninstall the steam version you downloaded.

I believe that is how it will work, however anyone can feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

im not getting the pre-loads so im not 100% sure

u might just have to go into ur steam folder and delete all the hl2 pre-load files....

Yepp... you also could do this with CS:cz

Right click on the name in the My Games folder and click on Remove or Delete. If you want to do it now, just cancel the preload.
