Why is Canada and america in a political lock-up? Canada didn't agree to the missile defense system..america in response didn't accept canadian beef. What is this..can't good neighbours get along?? There has to be some serious co-operation between the two countries..I hate when this happens...it's not good for the economy...for both countries...it sucks now :(

Which is why it would've been better if a Democrat won in November.. Republicans just don't like us pot-smoking gay marriage legalizing communists up here in Canadaland. Oh well. I don't like Martin, but he made the right decision on BMD.

How is it that you got the impression that those two are somehow connected?

Yet it is the Democrats who are trying to block Canadian Beef from entering the US, and it is Bush who is vowing to veto the resolution. So all of you cattle ranchers should thank your lucky stars that Bush is president, and not Kerry. As to BMD, Martin's decision was asinine, but the only thing that makes it better is that at least he realizes BMD is a good idea. Unfortunately he bowed to the whims of the moronic masses of his party. Martin actually used to have balls. Then he became PM and they were chopped off as per the tradition.

Martin bowed to the whims of what was most likely the majority of Canadians. Besides if he didn't bow the the whims of his party then it would really cause problems for the country. This is a minority government remember.

As for the beef thing dream431ca said I am not really sure how the two are related. If you are talking about the initial beef banning then you should know that it happened long before a decision was made on BMD's.

Well...I heard that on the news..so it could be put way out of proportion by the media (which most things are)

no, as mullinator has already stated ..the beef thing was because of madcow disease, nothing more

Same thing like when everyone blocked Britain's beef... but we got everything back to normal a few years later.

Most beef in the supermarket now has a "British Beef" label, like a badge of pride.

I'm sure we were told we had mad cow disease though, because we actually bothered to test our cattle, which not many countries did as widespread as ours.

I don't think things are that bad between Canada and the US. Things seem to be pretty friendly. There are pretty good political differences with the majority of both populations but overall we're close allies and I don't think there's a grudge or anything.

I agree. I mean we kind of pick at each other and everything, but Canada is, for the most part, a very close ally to us. It's not like we wake up vowing to blow up the Canadian embassy like we're doing with Fran- uh, nevermind. :p

Note: I love the french. Really.

I blame the movie Canadian Bacon for all the canada vs. america stuff...

It was a wonderful movie btw.. very funny.

There has not been anything even relating to communists in Canadian politics and news for a very long time now. I think he meant that as just a joke.

canadians and americans have always been close... liek that one guys said we both make fun of each other. im canadian myself and lvoe the country upon which i live in. I dont agree with bush in any aspect... but americans at a whole are good people. Some of the funniest damn people ive met thru my job are americans.

BTW What about these legalization o f communists in Canada?

They aren't illegal, so I am not sure what the remark was about. During the last election, the local chapter of the communist party of Canada was putting flyers in my mailbox about 3 times a week. It was pretty annoying.
