Canadian retailer accurately describes Fallout 3

That is awesome! It'd be nice if more retailers had a sense of humor like this.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh: I can see some people ain't going to be happy now ;)

That is hilarious. I can't believe that managament let that get on the Live site.

It makes me sad though going into so many US game shops and finding clerks that don't know jack-$hit about anything. They have to do their own research on what is coming out because the major chains do nothing to keep their employees informed. These guys, however, clearly know the score.

'More information' clearly applies to Mikael Grizzly...*waits, nervous for the grizzly to be roused*

That is pretty funny tbh. I suspect they won't take kindly to it though. I occasionally pop over to NMA to see what's cooking, but the even trying to read halfway through the news posts is a struggle, so bad is the degree of hate and ill-founded sarcasm towards Fallout 3 and Beth.

You'd think that people who are all about a game would lap up anything about it, but apparently despite the fact that 1up discussed a preview of fallout 3 at length in a recent podcast (for 15 or so minutes), hardly any of them could be bothered to listen to it, but instead relied upon one persons "double quote" (for humour clearly) Chinese whispers translation of it in order to dismiss it, fallout 3 and Beth at length.

Worth listening to. The fallout stuff kicks in about 15 - 16 minutes in, and is pretty interesting imo.

Personally I though Oblivion was dire, so I'm not holding out any expectations regarding fallout 3, but I'm prepared to give beth a chance. I like the sound of this initiation into the game world (It makes me think of Fable to a degree), so I'm prepared to see where they go with it.

More Information

*Fallout 3 may not please you if you are one of eleven angry guys who may or may not frequent No Mutants Allowed.

I lol'd.

I'm really looking forward to it. I like that Beth are taking a step-forward in the series. Some series are just stuck in the past...

I am sure going to miss the isometric view of the old games though. I usually hate when series do this--imagine a first-person Monkey Island, for instance. Could be good--could be horrible beyond words.

That said, if Dragon Age is really going to be a true "spiritual successor" to Baldur's Gate, then I must say that I will probably LOVE it no matter what the view of the player character.

meh video game technology changes ..i doubt I'd buy Fallout3 if it was the same isometric pov as the first 2 games ..I mean, this is 2008 ffs

Yeah, but just because there is advanced technology does not mean you should use it. Look at Escape from Monkey Island (the 3D one): just awful.

A nice advanced and updated HD isometric engine would look incredible I imagine, so there certainly could be a very slick and powerful modern way to represent the series in 2008 without resorting to first person. But like I said about DA, as long as it acts as a good (literal) successor to the previous games, then it really does not matter what viewpoint from which you play.

Hahah, thats amazing. If they ship to the US then I may just order it from them. Assuming they keep it on their website until release.

ya but isometric pov even one updated for today does not = mass profits ..especially since you could have sold such a game as an xbox live arcade game ..they're going for maximum profits ..as any business would

I can't say i am a fan of isometric pov and that's really why I haven't tried fallout before.

Why should I get angry at a bunch of morons perpetuating an old GameFAQs meme? My only gripe is with morons claiming Fallout FPS is a good Fallout game.

Fallout mixed with Quake would be the best FO game ever.

How about a 3D, top-down 3rd person then.

wait, what's wrong with escape from monkey island. I loved it, and it received good reviews.

Isometric ftw. It would be beautiful!

I never got into Fallout because it was turn-based, the isometric view doesn't bother me in the least.

But since they're making it an FPS that's even better, we need more post-apocalyptic FPSes on the market.

A crazily hostile(from what I've gathered) Fallout fansite.

Untrue. We're basically a group of gamers that demand a good Fallout game and loathe crappy games (FOT, FOBOS). Of course, nowadays, being nonconformist and demanding quality is pretty much crazy.

And how have you decided that FO3 is awful before any of you have had the chance to play it?

Yeah but they like, heard stuff about it. You can always judge a game by stuff you hear.

NMA and Mikael have their views on Fallout 3, leave it at that.
