Cannot get Hammer working!!

When i try to run hammer this happens-

FATAL ERROR

Unable to find gameinfo.txt relative to ". Solutions:

1. Set environment variable 'VPROJECT' to the path where gameinfo.txt is
2. Place " below the path where gameinfo.txt is.
3. Add -game <path> on the command line where <path> is the directory that gameinfo.txt is in


WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS MEAN AND ANYONE WANT TO HELP EXPLAIN IN A NON-CRAP VERSION

Read the sdk manual on how to set it up. I had the same thing (never used hammer before).
