can't chat/read chat

ever since the last steam platform update, for some reason on most servers I can't chat or see any chat. it's like it just cancels out when I press enter...it's annoying.

I suspect some foul play from a power tripping admin since it seems I forgot to put the cfg back to read-only after my last edit(or maybe I just never got around to it for DM)...whatever the case does anyone have any clue how to fix this...

I checked the cfg(which is jumbled 1-line mess for some reason:flame: )and all I could find was cl_chatfilters "31"(whatever the hell that means)

and tv_nochat "2.0000"(which I recon is the source tv or whatever the hell it's called when you spec)

anyone with similar problems?

The latest Steam update b0rked the chat on Linux servers.

You could try this. The community's answer to what Valve won't fix.

They didn't purposely disable chat. I suppose it was a side effect to an update to the Steam client/Source engine.
