Can't compile the models?

Hey all- I've followed every tutorial possible to get a model into HL2... It's tedious... Since the tutorials did not state what program to make the .qc file with... I opened note pad- typed all my stuff in, and changed the extension to .qc... Though the peculiar thing is, that it still had the notepad icon... Well- I thought that this should not sway any results...

I made a bat file- so my studiomdl.exe would run my sphere.qc... I run the .bat- and I get am messege "Error opening C:\...bin\sphere.qc"

What gives? I've been at this for about 4 hours- nothing I seem to do can get it to work... Please help!

You should uncheck the "Hide extensions for known file type" in the folder options. You file is probably named sphere.qc.txt

I'm on Windows 2000- so the file IS sphere.qc... For example- I can make a .bat file in notepad- just by changing the extension to .bat- yet the .qc does not seem to be working
