cant connect to steam help me!!!

ok well i try to play one of my steam based games and it says "connecting account..." but doesnt go past that. I tried restarting the computer and internet. I dont know what to do can someone help me?

Try starting it in offline mode by either disconnecting your internet before starting steam or using a firewall to stop steam accessing the net.

It's probably due to the millions of geeks trying to get the multiplayer update at the same time.

Actually I have the same problem and just tried running STEAM in offline mode. It says that HL2 is only 66% downloaded and isn't ready to play.

I've tried to be positive about STEAM, but it stinks. It stinks like last week's discarded fish heads.

Same problem here, and im on 56k, it loaded fine while saying updating steam, all went well, then i went to offline mode for some reason, tried to reconect and it wont work, so i aume its because of the update.

sorry for the double post, but i just left it for about 1/2 an hour and it connected. hope this helps!
