When ever I open C: and right-click and press 'disk cleanup' it stops and then I press cancel because after I waited for 5 minutes, I realized it wasn't working. And after that, my computer ran completely slow until I restarted it, this has been going on for a while. Not only can I now activate 'disk cleanup', I can't do a disk defragmentation.
Please help.

This happened to me before. Get a 3rd party defragmenter, and that should work.

If I remember correctly the reason is because you have files that have path names longer than 256 characters, and windows doesn't do that. Just get some 3rd party tool that does tha same thing.

I barely understood what you said.
I never heard of a 3rd party defragmenter and etc...
Can you give me steps that you took?
