Can't even update CS:S : Suggestion

Steam is really getting me pissed off. I have 56k, I leave Steam on all night to download the update to CS:S (knowing how huge it bloody is). When I wake up it says "steam was too busy to handle blah blah blah". Oh great.
I cant even play a game that I payed hard cash for.
Valve should release seperate .exe patches so we can upgrade our games. It would be easier to download, instead of getting it through shitty steam. I think its about time Valve pulled their head outta their asses and thought about the customers for once.

Anyone else agree?

he'd have to copy all the CSS caches off his friend after the update was done. It'd be faster to wait for steam.

I think seperate .exe updates would be a good idea- just design a way for them to plug in to steam, emulate a download or something
