Not since i went from having a USB modem going straight to my wall to connection my ethernet port to the rest of my house's network, now steam, call of duty, joint ops, nothing works, what do i need to do?

Your post isn't coherent.

Restate what the problem is, when it started to happen, and any other pertinent information and then we can help.

Steam- cant connect to steam netowrk

Call of Duty- no games appear when i refresh the server list

Joint Ops- Wont connect to the Nova World server

This morning i connected to the internet via AOL with a USB modem and everything works a.ok, then i changed to a network with btyahoo broadband, it nows goes from my netowrk port, to a switcher, to anouther swticher and to a modem. Nothing works anymore as listed above, i think my games are trying to connect through the AOL which obviously dosent work as that modem is history

So you added hardware? If so, what hardware?

If you switched broadband internet providers, they should have some information about what settings need to be enabled to properly use their internet service. That is probably causing your problem.

Are you at all able to use the net?

Sounds like a firewall issue.

I am able to use the net and those applications are allowed on my firewall

Bingo.

Google for the porst that they use and allow those ports in the firewall, problem solved.

If you knew what was wrong, why didn't you tell us?

You have a switch plugged into your cable/dsl modem? Probably need a router inbetween there. A router knows how to direct or route data to the net and network your PC to your ISP. A switch only knows local mac address' (the ID on your network card).

a diagram of what is going on-

EDIT sorry the second switcher next to the modem is infact a router, the other one is a switcher though

The router has to be the first thing from the modem. If that is the router then try reseting it as it's address table might be wrong.
