What on earth happened? This is the first time I was given an error message, but the other night it was "Vista could not recover from failure in HL2 client... Microsoft does not have any support relating to this topic"

My Comp's Stats:
Intel Quad-core Q6600
4GB Corsair XMS2-6400 Ram
EVGA 122-CK-NF68-A1 nForce 680i SLI Mobo
EVGA GForce 8800-GTS
Windows Vista (Business)

I have been looking all over the internet and this is the only place that mentions it and i get that same engine error: "Can't load lump 53, allocation of 10673193 bytes failed"... It happens every time i play on a map and when it changes over to a new map and the loading bar comes up.. it reaches the end, crashes, then gives me that error. I have done everything on the stream site or any other that gives me tips on how to fix any other crash and none work. I have sent in 2 emails to stream and nothing. If anyone gets any ideas or if the original poster figures out how to fix it, please, let me know

I am afraid you will not get much help here. I suggest you turn to the steam forums..

actually soulslicer, i have a really easy solution, GET RID OF ****NG VISTA, ITS A COMPLETE PIECE OF SHIT! ITS WORSE THAN WIN 2000!! THAT WAS THE WORST VERSION OF WINDOWS EVER, TILL NOW. if you get XP PRO, it will work fine, vista is a bitch when it comes to operating and doing anything really.... anyways, vista has more glitches than th iphone, which has 79 glitches and counting, as of summer 2007 on G4TV. and that 10GB of stuff that isnt loading, well, the problem could be a faulty hard drive, corrupted data, critical files missing, a virus, actually, just go here, its the same thing basically: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=131420
look at the long post, my first in the thread

and btw jjinno, nice comp, intel's new quad core? awesome! 4GB of ram, ok, not needed, even for vista, and from corsair, good choice. and its GEFORCE, not gforce, 8800 is nice, although ATI's new HD X2200 is better, but its expensive, and the expensive version of vista? hmm..
do you have a regular comp with custom parts, or is it like my gaming comp, with custom faceplate, temp gauge, lighted fans, neon, all custom parts, and awesome gaming peripherals(crap i forgot how to spell peripherals). oh, do you have a good screen too? i have a 22". i know this is off-topic, but im excited. do you have a controller?

Da FiX

It works great...

...i am such a geek.

You'll fit in here, Panteon.

That's a lot of bytes.

Taiiat,

I joined this forum for the sole purpose of putting you in your place.
Please, stop now, you're making a fool of yourself.

First of all there's a consensus among the tech community that Windows ME was Microsoft's worst mistake, Windows 2000 was and still is quite a good operating system. I will agree that Vista has it's problems but you're going a bit overboard telling this person to wipe their OS.

Also the error states 10 million bytes, that would be 10 MEGAbytes (10,673,193) ten GigaBytes would look something like this: 10,673,193,000.

Also, I'm getting the exact same error with the EXACT same amount of data. So no, it's not a virus, nor is it a corrupt hard disk or any of the other BS you spouted above.

Please consider doing some actual research before stating things as fact (and if you don't know how to spell a word, google it, the correct spelling will appear, or do something, you're on the effing internet, USE IT!)

Taiiat, I fully support your right to voice your opinion, and I am glad you have done so, but I completely disagree about your Vista comment. The only issues I've had are a couple of video card driver issues, (easily fixed by trying a few different drivers, did that with XP also) and some compatibility problems with other programs. And those problems were caused because of the 64 bit version I'm running. And ya know what? I had the same compatibility issues with my 64 bit version of XP.

Maybe because I am obsessed with keeping my computer very clean of ANY clutter, (temporary files, broken shortcuts, unnessary startup programs, etc..) defragmenting my hard drives and registry about every third day, and defragmenting my RAM before I game, I find Vista virtually glitch free.

Even tho DirectX 10 hasn't turned out quite the way I hoped, witch is the main reason I decided on Vista, I think more games will be developed that will utilize it.

And if it makes any kind of difference, I did build the computer in my signature. At last count, there were 50 blue LED lights in it.

To say Vista is "A COMPLETE PIECE OF SHIT!", is a little over the top. A little turd maybe, but not a complete piece of shit.

Anyway jjinno, did Panteon's fix work?
