can't open the console

even though i enabled the option for developer console in the options, i still can't open the console... why is this? i've downloaded hl2 via steam, so i can't open hl2 with the parameter -console at least i dunno how to do it...

pls help me

Press the key left of 1 (the 1 that is above Q) and you'll se the console if you enabled it

i know what the key for the console is, i pressed this button several times. i've enabled and disabled and enabled the option for the console but it still doesnt work... i chekce the functionallity of the key and it does work but it doesn't open the console in hl2 ;(

In your list of Games in Steam, right click on Half Life 2, select properties, click Launch Options, type -console in here. Then try the key for console after you have launched the game.

nothing, it doesn't work for me too. Binding in console to whatever key. Binding it in an autoexec.cfg... same shit... gg wp etc etc :hmph:

Can be a problem with different keyboard layouts/country settings.

it works with the shortcut, but it won't open again after you close it.
And yes, it seems a country/keyboard layout setting problem... and Valve should pray if this is the case cos they will hear my swears even from Spain ffs...

This has been a problem with HL1 for years, they never sorted it out.

if I could even bind it in the console... Whenever I try every fkin key I'd bind before closing the console I'll have to exit the game and try again.
My cfg is full of "bind (insert key here) toggleconsole" arghhhhh!!

And the weapon fastswitch doesn't work too ... :flame:
