So, ehem, the problem - Source full-bright haunts me!

Do you guys know of any good Low profile PCI-E vids out there that can fit inside a Dell GX280 Small Desktop - or any external ones, that are on an affordable price (read, bellow $100)? Or any good gaming power supply (my current one's at around 120W) that might fit inside this hunk of junk - still not that expensive?

Yeah, I know, this ain't no dream gaming rig - I thought I might at least make it run the updated Source engine - full-bright bugs me, you know - and maybe last a little bit longer, until I can find a better PC.

So my current vid is an Nvidia GeForce 6200 LE on 256 MB - it's all that managed to fit inside my case, after my internal burned out.

So, I guess I'm left 4 dead after all.

Well, on the video car I could recommend the one I had before. A GeForece 8800 GTS. Last time I checked it was around $150, it should be even cheaper now. It's a very good and reliable video card, I used it for 4 years without any issues. It can handle even new games. The only downside is that you would need a way more beefy power supply. Something like a 400W.

Are there any Low-Profile variants of this card? I really can't afford buying a bigger PC case and a new motherboard rn.

Hey, thanks you two.

But, what's the current status on video card technology - will I have to upgrade the power supply anytime soon after I purchase it or, hey, no worries?

No, no, you didn't get my point. I was talking about the 400W one you linked me. Would I need an upgrade soon if I buy it now?

Hmm... Probably not, unless your case has a ton of fans or you are running 3+ hard drives or something.

All that was added were two additional fans - one for the whole MB and one for the GPU. Guess it's no big deal - it'll take it.

Yeah, case fans don't require a lot of power - they use only milliamps - so 4x 80mm case fans would use around a half an amp total.

120mm fans probably use .33 of an amp each.

Even the worst power supplies in the world will shrug off several fans, especially because they carry momentum and don't start/stop. And bringing them up to speed when you boot the PC is no trouble because other components are at rest, or nearly so. (lots of HDDs would be a big factor, however)

Corsair sells some of the best power supplies available.

By the way:

Watts = amps x volts

1 amp x 12 volts = 12 watts

(Note: I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to find extreme case fans that use more power)

So uh, I did some googling and it ended up that my PSU is around 210W, not the 120W I was talking about. But still a new one is the way to go. And it's a Small Desktop, not Factor, btw.

Anywho, I found this card while browsing the net. Would that be suitable for my current PSU and my MB (as the vid requires a PCI-e x16 2.0, and mine is a PCI-e x16 1.0)?

I also saw it's on a somewhat affordable price, that's why I mention it.

Edit: And would this be overcloackable if I decide to get it?
