can't start new game in opposing force

hello everyone. Nice to meet you all I'm a new user and I've come across an annoying problem in OF and haven't found a solution for it on the internet. I've recently installed half-life game of the year edition with both expansion packs, but I want to play OF first and I can't click on "New game" or "training." They are greyed out and disabled even though I can click on multiplayer, configuration, etc...do I have to finish half life first to play this? Thanks.

It doesn't seem like you're using Steam.

Install this and create an account, then activate your game's CD keys on there.

The retail versions of Half Life and others are vastly outdated.

yes you're right i'm not using steam just the retail versions. but shouldn't i still be able to play opposing force? it's just weird that i cant click on "New game" or "training" but I can click on the other menu items

Yeah I have no idea what the problem is, but it's really not worth pondering. Steam is simple and it keeps all your games up to date.

And don't get me started on Steam sales...
