Awhile ago before steam needed your email for verification reasons and other things, I made an account with a jibberish email (which I of course don't remember), I don't even remember the account name I used..

Now everytime I try making a new account so I can play, It says my CD key is registered to another account (the one I don't remember) .. I emailed VALVe about this and was promised by an employe he would look into it and keep me updated. Well that was 6 months ago, and he hasn't emailed me back since.

Anything I can do? I feel this really isn't my fault, and I shouldn't have to pay 20$ for another CD key when I had no idea VALVe would make account emails like that.

It is your fault for using a "jibberish" email and forgeting it. VALVe can't be accountable for every account. HL isn't expensive just spend some more money.

But at the time they did not make it like it is now..

And they never even notified people when they did it.

it's your own fault for using a fake email. when your asked for your email to play an online game, put in a useful one...

I guess you'd have to experience this first-hand to catch a glimpse at what i'm saying.

Omg

Dude your an idiot. They ask you to give an e-mail address for a purpose. And the employee who promised to fix it 6 months ago probably sent info on how u fix your account to the jibberish e-mail you made. Omg thats the stupidist thing I've ever heard!!!

I guess before you call something stupid you might want to check your spelling..

You know, so you don't look like a hypocrite?

It's your fault for making a fake email even if "they did not make it like it is now", they put it there for a reason. So now you need to just go buy a new cd-key, or find some other way to change your email... Thats All i have to Say about that..... oh, and no need to complain about people spelling.. its a forum of gamers, not english/<insert language> teachers..

I agree with everyone else, it's your own damn fault.

You put fake emails for stupid sites or one of those "register before you download" type things. Not for an online game. "Oh I'll never need to remember my password..."

I just got emailed by VALVe stating the fixed it - no charge

So no it doesn't look like it was "my fault".

not really. if your just registering for a forum, yeah put whatever you life in for an email, but common sense says that if yuor registering your game with the people who actually made it on a content delivery system then surely you must ahve realised your actual email would be the best bet. your either stupid or trying to get a copy of the game for free off valve. sorry dude but thats the harsh truth of it

(edit: just seen youve got it sorted now. your lucky tbh)

Your PM was still reported.

And Valve is nice, so it's fine if they fix it. It was still your "fault". You typed in a fake email, so in essence it is your fault.

Geez .. If you used a valid email adress in the first place, none of this would have happened. They don't ask for a valid email adress for nothing. Conclusion: It was "your fault".
