Can't use steam

I hate Steam But i know i'll have to use it in a few week, so
I Dl it . I install it. I begin the registration. It make an update. after the update Steam tells me: Could not connect to Steam network. [....] Steam network is down or it's your connection [...]

Is it that "great and usefull program" wich is down or is it a probleme with my computer?

i've never used a full version of a programm what was SO buggy! and the second: the servers are nearly ALLWAY full

had the same problem, had to create a new account and everything was fine again, now im having the same problem again with my new account :\

And they realy want to repleace the won.net by ... "THAT THING"????
They realy want to make auto-update by the same way as players are playing?

Are they stupid or is steam only a big joke?
