Hey, any input I could get on this would be GREATLY appreciated.

My CD/DVD drive was working fine, and I decided to d/l steam and play some HL (it's an old comp I recently pulled out and dusted off). I tried using the CD drive again, and while it is still powered and regonized by my computer I can't access it. All signs say the device is working properly, but when I click on the D: icon, it gives me that message "D:\ not accessable", and other games ask me to insert the cd when it is already in there.

Any ideas? All the other times I've had problems with devices it would show some sort of problem in device manager.

Many thanks to anyone who can tell me anything...!

I don't know if you'd even WANT to play hl2 on that. You'll be getting like, 20 fps when doing nothing.

EDIT: i'm not being too helpfull. Try a firmware upgrade.

Sorry, but what is a firmware upgrade?
I checked and I don't think there are driver updates, either.

And I'm definitely not trying to play HL2 on this thing. It's just my old lan computer, but I'm stuck with it awhile and I can't play any games that need a cd! Which is a bummer b/c I just got my lan hooked up again. Oh well.
