Cd Music To Hardrive

Ok stupid question yes, but how can I rip music from cds i own and save them to my hard drive so i can listen to different songs while i model in 3ds max? I'm talking about newer cds also like enhanced cds that won't even play in winamp for some damn reason, i can't even find the tracks when i explore the cd :E please help me!

You'll need a CD Ripping program. Winamp 5 Pro (not free) can do it, so can MusicMatch Jukebox (also not free)

The only free program (that I know of) that's reliable is called CDex (http://www.cdex.n3.net/)

It's free and it rips CDs into all kinds of codecs (Ogg Vorbis, AAC, MP4, WMA, MP3, Wave - though, only MP3 and Wave are supported without downloading the little codec addons, which are also free)... and it converts back and forth between any of the supported codecs (unless the music is DRM protected).

I use it to rip my CDs and recompress my high quality ripped songs into smaller files for use on my flash mp3 player... since storage is tight.

I love winamp 5 but i've heard the ripping isn't very good, so steer clear of it. I don't think the quality suffers, i just heard that it goes much much slower then most other rippers.

Some rippers encode in large increments (like AC) other in small increments. The loss of detail using large increments is noticable. Sounds almost flat imo. Most of the AIO solutions do use large increments. But they can encode a bit faster.

I try to tell ppl to keep with MP3 unless they really need to go ACC or WMA.
I've had too many ppl try to copy MP3s and WMA files on CD for a Car player or to a MP3 player that does not play WMA/ACC.

I had a guy come to me when he got a MP3 player for Christmas but he spent hours trying to get it to play this song and work. The file copied OK and he can see it on there but it does not play....WMA file. Of course this guy didn't know about extentions or what dif. WMA vs MP3.
