CD Rippage problem.. helpage?

Right, heres the problem, I want to rip this CD I own to my PC, and Windows Media Player really doesn't seem to want to do this, it's doing it with all the new stuff I've bought :(

Anyway... can anyone help?

Nah, if you want a good job done then you need a prog called "Exact Audio Copy". Its free and it makes sure it lets you know if something goes wrong in the process (jitter errors and such that usually result in track glitches), and even the time location where it thinks it went wrong.

I rip all my CDs with it and never had a problem. A couple of progs I used to use would have skips in the tracks (without bothering to tell me about it), or would completely refuse to even rip some specific tracks etc.

EDIT: One time I even had a horrible screach at the end of a track, it scared the absolute crap out me the first time I heard it!

cd ripping? why would you want to rip your cd's? i pay money for mine.
 
is it a music cd? if so I recommend using "FreeRip mp3" FreeRip is, well, free and it works quite nicely. Use google to find this...

If its a DVD, then use SMartRipper to get all the .vob files and FlaskMPEG to string the file together to make the whole movie. just google 'Kalel's DVD ripping guides"
 
It's when you 'rip' all the tracks from an audio cd, to your PC's hard drive. Hope that helps
 
I use Creative Playcenter... but no matter which program I use to do it... some CD's just REFUSE to rip all the way for me! I can't even copy them! (the same ones that don't rip don't copy either)
 
what you mean just copy them? is that it? what! i feel so stupid! not really, but if its only copying whay call it ripping? and why can you use media player or just normal windows? am i missing something?

Copying just goes onto another CD. Ripping goes to your disk.
 
Well, it's a slang word for it I guess, just another way for the computing community to alienate people :P

But, yeah, Windows Media Player (later versions of it) can rip CD's but I don't seem to be able to :(
 
no yeah, i just put a cd in go to media player and go to copie cd, whats so hard about that? OR just click + drag.

It's annoying becuase I don't actually own a CD player, and have only one drive on my PC... oh and King John... for some reason, Media Player won't let me copy this one to my hard drive

Well, always have a backup plan, so if one fails, you can fall back on it :)

Thats not evil, it's just sense, yet I really like the first girl, so I'm a little confused :(
 
I don't look for girls, I wait for them to come to me. There have been 2 during the last 20 years ... hmmm

Winamp does audio ripping, i think the plugin is included as well. Just get it to output mp3 files, then play the cd.
 
Hehe, hopefully I will be going on a bit of a dateage today. We shall see.

I don't get it, why is ripping a CD bad? I have ripped all my CDs so that I can put them on my iPod, how does this deny artists of their money??
