Cel-Strike Mod - Cel Animation Mod for CS: Source

Cel-Strike Mod has come to The PAF Game Community and we are very happy to be sponsoring this unique and incredible add-on mod for Counter Strike : Source. Cel-Strike Mod is a mod that turns CS: Source into a cel animated game. It's like playing your favorite comic book on the Source Engine. To fully understand this mod you really need to see the screens for yourself.

The creator of Cel-Strike Mod, supafastsc, says he's almost gotten enough done that he is VERY close to an open beta of the mod.

"To reiterate, this is just CSS. The only server side variable that differs from regular CSS is a slightly lower gravity which adds a bit of the action punch, esp. when grenades bounce and bodies start flying!!!"

supafastsc is fine tuning some of the maps that he's already gotten closer to completing, and has started another new set.

Maps complete or nearly completed:

- CS_ITALY
- CS_OFFICE
- DE_DUST
- DE_DUST2
- DE_DUST3
- DE_LOSTTEMPLE
- DE_PIRANESI
- DE_PRODIGY
- DE_CBBLE
- DE_CHATEAU
- DE_TRAIN
- DE_TIDES

There are some new screen caps of CS_ITALY on the Maps Page. Let me know if you like them.

Here are a few screens to get you started.

that looks so cool! i was always thinking that would be a cool idea good work

looks great, ill get it for sure. Wish it was a new mod though, not just CSS. But this could start a chain of mods coming out with source engine/cel shading. looks great though.

just looks like a ghettofied version of cs:s

The effect can't be made by just changing the skins and textures to look a bit cartoony. The biggest part of making a 3D model/scene look like a cartoon is wrong or missing. The lighting is too realistic. They need to work on a shader to add proper cel-shading. Dark outlines would also help, but they're not required (I don't think Wind Waker used them). Adding such a shader to the player models and props would be the easy part. Trying to get a similar effect effect on world geometry might be a bit more challenging.

Haha, that looks really cool. I will definitely give this one a try when it's out. :D

The only way to cel shade is with a shader. You can't add shaders to closed-source cs:s. Oh well, nice idea though.
