Very good, as always.
Although, Molson would be my choice.

Looks very melancholy for a celebration :) Great picture, I have no clue how you timed that.

<3

Datrix doesn't get credit for realising that it wasn't a photo? :(

looks wasome, but what is it?

Bottle caps from Coors Lite. They look as if they were wet, so most likely pulled out of a cooler. I don't know if it's supposed to be ironic with the name celebration and the somber feeling that someone is about to drink themselves into oblivion, but that's how I took it.

Yup, all popped off at once and falling on a table, in the color version some of the blobs are beer some condensation, but decided at the last minute to make it B&W and go for the random photo style loads of people seem to be abusing lately.

How would I know? I don't even drink yet, I just said it to look cool. :(

Speechlessly breathtakingly real, as usual.

I assume it was made in a modeling program? I thought it was a photo too, at first, but then again I always think that, even in that SourceWorld pic :|

Eh, showed it to a friend, they want proof its not a photo.
I think its pretty damn awesome.

Jeeeeeeesus that looks complex. :O
No kidding, my respect level for TDE's art just moved up a notch, and I thought it was already at the highest it could go. :O

Did you make all that? Like the bottle cap and everything?

And even the colored not blurred version looks very realistic. Heh... I tried something like that once... er... but compairing mine and his, is like compairing doom1 and HL2.
Here a pic of mine...

The idea is there, but what I'd do differently with it.

. The cookies should be far less smooth, more crumply looking. Either heavy bump displacement or even a tight collection of surface type hypervoxels cause of the way the procedurals kinda carve into them. Then add choc chips in that.

. The glass needs proper refraction and slight coloring, the milk needs to be kinda translucent, SSS works nicely for milk aswell.

. Lighting needs fixing, soft shadows aswell as a caustic effect from the glass would look quite nice.

. Table/Counter doesn't want to be so clean, imperfections and chaos rule.

. Spots of milk, either modeled and made more random looking, or squished surface voxels/particles

. cookie crumps, little more randomness to them.

. DOF, most of the time in the real world people avoid it where possible, but it still makes an image look good

Have another go.. hmm actually, mind if I use that image as a basis/idea for a little art contest? :)

I tried messing around with Maya once...modelling is scarily complicated. So incredible work TDE. It would be quite good if it was just a photo...

Must of taken you months if not years to make that :|

Maya is cool, but complex (to me atleast) Has some nice features though, and I wish its paint effects was available in other packages. But I still have to use it sometimes, same with the others. I prefer Lightwave though, its the one I know bestest. :)

about an hour or so. I was talking to shippi at the time and only went on brb for a short while. The rendertime is what took ages. Funny really, that barely took any time to do, and looks miles better than the butterfly which took ages to do :)

Sure you can.. but its not really my idea lol. I kinda copied off of a picture a guy at my dads work did... his was alot better.
But I did that like a few years ago... I could probly do alot better if I went back and tried.

well the contest is up so nows your chance :D

Cool. Ill probly draw it then color it in Photoshop. Id do that later, but now, Im gunna play HL2 with my new computer that I got a few days ago. Its awsome :D

I just got my Maya PLE :). I'm going out to buy a book today, I'm so excited.

I'm wondering if I can use maya to create models I can import in HL2? If so, anyone know how?

<3

Im not sure maya can, but their are other programs that can... go to the 'Models and Skins' or the 'Help' part of that forum to find out which programs you can make models with and it also teaches you how to get them into HL2.

But Maya is awsome.

Outstanding render, elf

Is it actually rendered like that or did you add the depth of field n motion blur in PS?

cool, i'm a MEMBER. nothing new there then.

DOF was all done in the 3D app. Only thing done in post was making it grayscale and adding the black border.
