Changes From Beta

HI THERE, IM NOT SURE WHAT ANYONES THOUGHS ARE ON THIS, BUT AWHILE BACK I WENT TO A FRIENDS WHO HAD AN EARLY BEAT VERSION OF THE GAME, FROM QUITE AWHILE BACK. THERE WERE A FEW THINGS THERE THAT REALLY IMPRESSED ME THAT WERE MISSING FROM THE FINISHED VERSION, I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAD PLAYED IT AND THEIR THOUGHTS?

for instance in the finished version when you drive up to the town and get the rocket launcher for the first time, there are a couple of ppl walking around but very little else, in the beta there were alot of science blokes about and you could command them by clicking on them then clicking where you wanted them to go. i remember there was a whole tutorial level on commanding ppl, as this was going to be a major part of the game, you could have them pick up weapons and health packs, open doors heal other players. anything really. but all this is missing from the version we have now apart from towards the end.

When people write their first couple of posts on a forum, I wonder if they act like this on purpose...

Haven't played the game yet, but I thought someone said it was possible to command the NPC's (i.e. command them to move to a certain spot).

The problem is that that is the only thing you can do with them...

Yes, you just point to it and press "C".

If they reduced the functionality of this, it's probably because it didn't play well. By the sound of it, all the micromanagement would have distracted the player.

The way it is now, they pick up better weapons and heal each other without you telling them to, which is much better in my opinion.

agreed, pretty cool how u can keep pimping a medic till u get full health.

There was no beta, it was in alpha state to say the least, but its called "stolen build" not beta, kthxbye.

It's a nice idea but I kinda wish they'd just go ahead and keep patching you up. I was on 1 health and it took me ages to get fixed.

"here have a med kit"

"what are you doing?"

"shouldn't you be getting on?"

"I like cheese"

"bla bla bla bla bla"

"Here have a med kit"

Something i noticed later were some crucial plot points that were changed, . . or saved for hl3.

"Cleverly done mr freeman, but you're.. not supposed. to be here. Get back where you belong now. I will see you up ahead
