Changing converted models skin

Hi,

I converted some models from milkshape to 3d max and i need
to tweak models skin a bit, do you guys know easy way to do it?

I have used UVW mapping but when I try to do that it messes up the whole skin. And when I try to detach the spot that i need to reskin it stays part of the orinal model, preventing UVW mapping.

Any help?

I usually use planar , and i dont get that sort of problem. Is it a very complicated object your trying to mapp onto using UVW? if so is the surface your applying it too just not showing the map atall??

if you want to edit any map. u probably know how. just change it in photoshop.. or whatever program your using and in 3D s theres a reload button that updates the map.

in my opinion thats the easiest way
