changing menu backround in games

im wondering if its possible to change the background image that all the steam games use in the main menus (for example, HL has a different menu backround in steam than without it)

i want to change them because some of them are just pure ugly, and most are worse than the original non-steam ones.

ok i got it, i made a new background for the horrible (no offence to the artist) steam background for NS.

here it is if you want it:

extract to: halflife -> ns -> resource -> background and overwrite the files (you might wanna back them up)
