changing names of bots

Is there any way to change the names of the bots?

Hmmm... I think there was an option to change the prefixes (like [BOT] or [NPC]), but the bot names I dunno. If you happen to find a way, let me know too

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's only prefix unless it's in some gfc files... :scratch:

Theres a text file somewhere that has the names of all the bots. I tried editing it and it crashed the game.

I've seen the actual bot names changed on some servers; I don't actually know how, so this mightn't be too helpful but I just thought I'd point out that is possible. Ask a server admin if you find a server with custom bot names I suppose...

It CAN be done!

Ok, after a few searches and some messing about, I found a way to do it!
And since there is little to no info about it on these forums I'll provide you with my findings:

First, you must get GCFscape (a search on the forums here should turn it up; that's where I found the link)
Use this program to open "counter-strike source shared.gcf" (located in "C:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\" )
Within this file, you will find "BotProfile.db" (located in the "cstrike" folder)
Right-click, and extract to "C:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\<username>\counter-strike source\cstrike\" (or wherever you want, just make sure it's in that path when you're done, or it probably won't work)
Now, open "BotProfile.db" in notepad, and have at it!
