Ok, this is really pissing me right the **** off.
So I get into the pod, take the stupid long trip to the place where its 'supposed' to take your weapons away.
well this stupid piece of shit machine says

"unauthorized weapons detected"
And instead of taking my weapons like its supposed to, it ****in kills me.

everytime.

I went back and tried again, same goddamn thing, went and tried again, killed me, went back again and jumped into the pod with my gravity gun, because thats what its supposed to leave me with, ****in kills me anyways.

what in the hell is going on here?
Why does every single game have to have retarded glitches?

Id like to beat this game, but obviously I cant.
So I want my goddamn money back

Other pod dude other pod, the feild does not take your weps in the pod you get out first. if you hop in the first one, it takes you to a exictution ray thingy.

I had exactly the same problem two weeks ago and it occured again when I played the game again with higher difficulty.

Try saving the game while your non-interactive ride through the citadel. Make sure it's after 'Loading...' Don't save too quick, just wait a little while.

This helped me get through this little annoyance. I had to try this once with lowest difficulty, but twice with middle difficulty.
BTW, it's the only bug I found in the game.

I'm having a similar problem...

After the "pod tram ride" and I get dropped into the containment room thingy, it takes all my weapons away, including the gravity gun. So I'm left with absolutely nothing to do, and when I try to move around it's like I'm wading thru molasses! According to a walkthrough I read, I'm still supposed to have the gravity gun (super powered, too) but I don't and no matter what I try I can't get it back. I've saved, reloaded, switched weapons prior to dropping from the pod, but I keep getting the same result... nada.

Anyone know what I can do here?
