Character Concept

Here is a new quick concept I whipped up.

Character shown on left is in traditional hunting attire. Character on right is in battle attire. The figure on the far right displays a human at 6' for comparison of height.

I like the hunter version better, because of the characters tribal appearence. Whereas he looks too futuristic with the armor and stuff.
It's a bit like they're from different eras 'cause the one with armor is wearing like punk, biker gloves. Nice drawing though! I like it how his hair comes out of the helmet, nice detail.

That's what I am going for though. They are a race of practiced tradition and rituals yet they contain an excelled intelligence and superior technology. They just appear more dominant to their traditional ways than they do technologically.

In retrospect they are kind of like the Amish but with electricty.

Good, but the arms are all wrong though it's like hte's haliding the inside out at us, but his hand's palm is facing inwards
fairly nice rendering, but try putting in some harder lines as well

I am flattered that you'd want to use them but I can't. I am doing up a story and concepts for an idea I have. If things go right I plan to try and produce the story into a mod. :cheese:

Why dont you combine your story with SW? like have the native people of the SW land look like that and any backround story you have on them you could use....who knows it may dominate like a SW storyline.

Maybe have the NPC's as those tribal guys and stuff.

Had they been in it they would have been a certain tribe mostly making up the guards. Since the guards we were gonna have would be taller anyway. But never mind.

Why would being skinny make them any less dangerous?

Haven't you seen those warriors in those African tribes, very tall, very skinny, quite capable of brining down a big lion or other animal. Often while young as a passage to manhood, mostly with no help, sent out alone, if they come back they become a man, if not, they die.

Fenr-elf-ic is right. In fact they recently had problems with them taking up the tradition of hunting lions, as lions are very few nowadays. You can be skinny but have "efficient" muscles. My brother is very tall, and doesn't look that big but believe me he is strong and hes also good at martial arts, which brings me to another point. If you live to hunt, then you are going to be quite skilled in using the strength you have.

That was a basis for the conception of this character. Just because it doen't have huge bulbous muscles doesn't mean he isn't strong. Strength depends on the conditioning. Look at some of them brute farm boys. The spend their lives working on a farm but most don't have huge vein induced muscles but they are still strong as an ox.

and that general concept is true, no doubt.. but not to this degree if you are going to make it based off our present reality or want to make it believable.

It's an alien, and like Giger's alien, they weren't all muscle, they could still rip you to shreds. Use your imagination

he presented a drawing in no particular context, if he said it wasn't based on this universe and these laws of physics, then that would make more sense. but seeing as he used an example to prove a prior point in this universe(a farm), then i felt the need to convey that comment.

and eh, i didn't learn anything about skinny african's killing lions in 1st grade either. he made a valid statement. if you don't have proof, then theres no need to continue.

I reckon there's a difference between having loads of muscles (like the steroid-crazed do), and having superbly toned muscles (like people who develop them during everyday activities do... say, the Masai or certain eastern monks).

It's also a matter of learning to use every single strand of muscle at once... the human body naturally alternates between different bits of muscle in any given bundle, or so I hear. Adrenalin makes them all go at once (hence the documented stories of people lifting cars and throwing things across a room), and also removes the illusion of muscle fatigue (it's just a biochemical reaction, lactic acids and all that).

dude, what is your problem? im not wrong in the least, i don't go talking about things i know nothing about. YOU started with the personal attacks when you could have just said nothing. you are just upset because i had some constructive criticism to give. this isn't your drawing, so just go away if you don't like it.

The armor makes no sense on the right side (our way).. I mean, if you get a sword slash down there, you either take his head or a piece of armor off. Either it has to be closer to the head or removed. It's just not clever.
