Chat box/friends list won't come up in Half life 2 DM...

Recently, I've had a problem with not being able to talk to people on my friends lists while in Half life 2 Death match. Even after pushing Shift+tab, nothings happens. I have to minimize my game to get to the chat box. (I'm sure its a simple fix). Please help.

Restart your Steam. The patch came out recently.

No, my steam has the latest update it says. The chat box still won't come up in DM.

Never mind. It works now. Steam just wasn't updating when I asked it.
