I'll accept that I'm a complete moron or something, but why can't I get into chat anymore? I keep getting a "+r". I wasn't banned or anything, at least to my knowledge.

You need to be registered with Quakenet. This is to prevent a thousand spambots to jump in the channel and advertise for horrible sites all the time.

type /msg Q hello <[email protected]> <[email protected]>

You need to specify your email address twice as parameters, a generated password will then be sent to the address mentioned, allowing you to auth to Q.

When you say 'hello' to Q, you will be assigned a default password.

Change your password by using the following command:

/msg Q newpass <old pass> <new pass> <new pass> (for example, /msg q newpass john notjohn notjohn).

Q will acknowledge a successful password change by displaying:
-Q([email protected]) - OK, password changed.

Then login by typing /msg [email protected] auth <username> <password>.

O.k.. I've had to do that in the past, but how come all of a sudden I'm having to do it when I didn't for months. Weird.

You didnt have to do it before because the channel wasn't plus r before. But sadly a few twerps and the aforementioned bots make it so we need +r
