So apparently the guys who are responsible for developing all those wonderful cheats that detrimentally affect our online gaming have started their own page for developing cheats and hacks for HL. I think that before they get a chance to grow up a good following it'd be nice to express how much you all feel about cheating, hacking, stealing sourcecode and ruining our gameing experience really is. I'm sorry because this post has a negative connotation but I think the gamers owe it to Valve to show that cheating is not accepted or tolerated by the community before the next generation of cheats begins.

Sorry mods, if this belongs in rumours and speculation I apologize.

[LH-EDIT] - Please dont post links to that site (specially not to the ones that made that page), link removed.

How did you find out about that website, and how do you know it's real?

Good question. A while back I got all the stolen build screenshot sites together and listed them on my websage for people who were interested in the images as a release so they wouldn't be interested in d-loading the source. Well, I was checking the links on those sites and one of them came up an empty root. Since it's an apache server I clicked the "up one level" otpion and it took me to their homepage. It's internal and not intended for the public which makes me beleive I may have stumbled upon their "home site" by accident. Nothing special just clicked the right link at the right time.
Plus, it also haas development screenies of their stupid hacks being built. If you want proof go visit my homepage and click the fourth link and it will take you to the root.

I really hate cheaters and theives. It's why I'm trying to become a cop in the first place.

I'm sorry you feel that way. What can I do to accomodate you displeasure with this thread? Please let me know and I'll do what I can. Sorry to bother you so much, seriously.

SlipperyNipple, you have the cutest name on the forums but what did poor niugio do? Well, I have to go to sleep now, so I'll check your replies tomorrow. :)

Slippery, I'm really confused as to what's bothering you about this post. I really can't stand these guys for making hack so I thought I'd let the community chime in over their since they've set up their own message boards. I don't mean to offend. It would just be nice to have a jump on these guys before they surprise us with some stupid device that ruins gaming for weeks or months util Valve can patch it. I hate that stuff and I think the community deserves to be able to address that directly.

ooops I wasn't able to finish addressing things. there aren't any cheats posted yet, that's the point of this thread. Stop them before it starts. I checked to make sure there wasn't anything to gain from these jerks yet. I'm just sick of them hiding in the shadows.

the problem is, you're enabling the community

thats like posting links to the leaked beta and saying "haw haw, look I found doodz with ter beta go get em valve"..
its counter productive... in essence all your doing is showing people where to get some cheats if they want them.
:/
I know you had noble intentions, but this is a case where it would be best to tell say Valve, or someone who can actually make a difference... not post it on a public forum for guests and members alike.

always assume the worst in people, and post accordingly .
:(

That's a good point redundant. I'm sorry all. I figure it was on the side of acceptable because nothing was availble to download or utilize. I'll e-mail it to Gabe.

Thanks again all.

good on ya :)
let the big dogs handle those scrubs... (dont even bother asking me where that came from.. the coffee talking?)

Those guys are smart, but they're just using their smarts for a wrong purpose. Having partcial source code is better than nothing and I'm sure it would make developing the hack easier. There goes HL2 multiplayer I was looking foward to.

Well, if these guys have really gone as far as some of them claim they have then the jerks have gone to far and probably ended up damaging themselves heavily in the long run. They've really helped the community out in a sense because their contribution to the destruction of Valve games will probably be hampered in the future. Also, I'm sure that the Anti-cheat system in HL2 will just be that much stronger. This may really benefit all us gamers in the long run. Only time will tell.

If only we could build some sort of wall made of fire,...the Hl2 would be safe.

The only possible way to prevent cheats is to have all new HL 2 based mods/models/ect ect screened for possible hacks and cheats - A downloadable databased created so servers can check to see if a client machines mods/models/ect have been screen before allowing access to the game, also the client can be screened via Steam to ensure no modification of the exec, or any mem based addon is enabled to prevent client based hacks/cheats .

This is of course immpossible as the sheer number of mods/models/ect ect would make it extremely expensive to screen.

a random screening would probably catch the people. Checking file sizes would be easy, but a random screening for changes may do the trick. It'd only be a mater of time.
