Cheats won't work!

omg how do I enter cheats. I tried the console thing.
I have this
"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220
as my target.
Will somebody please help.

when you get in-game
1. go to options
2. keyboard
3. advanced
4. mark the one that says: enable developer console
5. start a game
6. hit the "~" key right below Esc
7. type: sv_cheats 1
8. type the cheat you wish to use
9. hit "~" again

Yea he does. Thats a shortcu directly to the game so you don't have to launch it from the steam menu.

To expand on this, create an "autoexec.cfg" file in this directory (dont forget the extension, .cfg, or it will write it as an incorrect file type):

Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<account>\half-life 2\hl2\cfg

You'll need to edit autoexec.cfg with Notepad or Wordpad. Type "sv_cheats 1" on the first line, and you won't have to do it everytime you play. Another good command to put in there is "cl_ragdoll_collide 1". This makes it so the ragdolls no longer clip through each other (Unfortunately, there is no command to stop them from clipping through props).

EDIT: Computer5k, the box will stay checked no matter which shortcut is used to start the game.

I was just saying to have the shortcut launch the game instead of steam he needed the applaunch.

It sounds so easy. It's a similar thing for mod levels right? Instead of sv_cheats 1 or whatever, you would type in the level name?

sv_cheats 1 enables the cheats.
to change level type: map ____ < the map name goes where the line is!! lol

impulse 101

 

[Ennui]

impulse 101 gives you all weapons but blue grav gun, type it more for more ammo
god gives you invincibility
buddha makes you never go below 1 hp (also invincibility)
noclip lets you clip through everything (fly through walls and shit)
