here are all the stats i can remember:

512 megs ram DDR
100 gig HD (60 free)
P4 2.53 GHZ
ati radeon 9000 128 meg AGP

please tell me how well hl2 will run on this? i am willing to turn down the options a bit, i want to get around 45-50 FPS hopefully. thanks.

Well... For starters the 9000 is DX8.1 I beleive (or DX8). So you wont run at max quality. My guess is that you'll have to turn down quite a bit to get that... Not everything, maybe medium settings. And of course if you want to pick stuff out, I'm sure there are some things that can be a really big drag on performance.

if you want 40-50 fps id expect you would need to turn the graphical settings down a fair bit... (nearly to low) and run it at 1024x768 but you wont get all the pretty shading effects...

if you live in teh states get a 9600pro for aroun $150 or so
if ur in the uk get a 9600pro for £150 or a bit less if you shop around online :)

if ur in the states use www.newegg.com

if ur in the uk use www.komplett.co.uk

see, i just bought this ****ing video card 3 months ago for 128 bucks, jesus christ why do computer components have to be so expensive and ethereal?

how much can i get for a near-new 128 meg radeon 9k?

sorry :/

id say about $80 maybe...

but if i were you id wait til the 9900 comes out before upgrading it again...

and id recommend reading up on gfx cards :) 9000,9200 by ati are the standard piss poor efforts...

the 5200 is the pisspoor nvidia effort!

the 9500, and 9600 are ati's "average" gamer cards...
the TI4400-TI4800 and the 5600 are nvidia "average" gamer cards

the 9700 and 9800 cards are for people that need to brag because of a terrible disease called smallpenisitis :)

same goes for the 5800,5900 nvidia cards... (while the 5800 card has quite a loud fan... that can easily be swapped over to whatever if u have some skills :)

(i wouldnt recommend getting the 5200,9000,9200)

if your a gamer go for the 9500, 9600 or 5600 cards as they are ur average none break the bamnk cards with good preformance and dx9 support :)

if oyur one of the people that need to run games at 1600x1200 with 8xFSAA and 16xAF then you need the 9700-9800 or the 5800-5900 cards...

the choice is yours :)

If you are in the uk go to www.overclockers.co.uk get a sapphire 9800 non pro (£220) and flash it to a pro (bout £270). That should last you quite awhile too.

*couhg* read sticky! *cough*

now about your como... :)

Your cpu is fine, but your video won't be able to take advantage of all the cool effects.
