checkers for textures?

i just played a map and some of the textures are checkered with purple and black i dont have a screen but i dont know how to do it if any one else has had this proplem and fixed it let me know please


i wonder if it is just that for somereason i dont have the textures in a file

You need to re-download the map, you are missing textures.

so is the downloading process just wierd so i should delete it and redownload it

I've heard problems of the in-game downloading process, if it fails you should try downloading it from a website instead. I've downloaded only one map in-game so far and it worked fine.

it happens to me aswell m8 , mainly on hl2M bu what i do is close the game down , and re-open it and it should work fine if it has in the past , its seomthign similar to the memory leak bug

Gawd, this is such a problem I dunno why Valve didn't notice it.

Basicaly its down to custom textures, textures that were made by the mapper for the map. CS: Source or any other steam game doesn't download the textures for the map, just the BSP.

Thats why if you ever play zt_assault, you WILL get shot by an AWP through the vent NO MATTER WHAT, because if you just join the server you dont get the custom textures for the vent and you can see right through it!

The only way you can fix it is by downloading the map from a website, but this in turn means you dont get the advantage that ever other bas***d that likes to cheat their ass off has

Try it yourself, join a server with zt_assault or any custom map you KNOW uses custom textures and see if you can display them.

The reason I KNOW zt_assault uses custom textures is because I downloaded it at a mates house from these forums and it has the custom textures with it.

The reason I KNOW you can join a server and not get the textures is because I tried to play zt_assault at my house but forgot where I downloaded the map from so just joined a server.

The reason I KNOW how to fix it is because I got the textures from my mate and joined the same server.. no probs.

I KNOW people cheat because I can't play the dam map any more without people sitting with AWP's killing anyone in the vent, and I KNOW their cheating because they say "H3y guys, why 15 th3r3 n0 t3xtur3s?!" because it's not their fault its not working. They're just a bit weak minded to go fix it for on their own.

I know because i've been there... you really think I was just making up crap?

But i have also had the other problem in "Rats" where u need to download the map of a site because of custom textures.
