Checking for Steam updates... (But For 15 Minutes?)

Well, I opened up Steam today a window comes up saying "Checking for Steam updates" but it has been like 15 minutes now and nothing seems to be happening at all. I tried closing and re-opening but it's still doing the same thing. Anyone else having this problem? Is Steam having a problem or does it take this long to try and find an update?

EDIT: Eh, nevermind. Closed and re-opened a couple more times and now it's working. Mods, feel free to close this.
