HI,
I am running a HP with a 3.2 pentium R 250 gig hd, 1gig of ram, and a intel 128 meg 82915g/gv/910GL Express chipset family built in, now my question is the minimum requirments are 1.2 etc.. why is that right when i get the gun on the first level or so and run outside its a choppy nightmare.. sounds start breaking up its harder and harder to aim, i checked the video settings and they were defaulted at high and medium settings? i also noticed that it said hardware direct x level 8.1 and software 9.0, does this mean its not even using my card? when i have 9.0c installed? do i need a new video card for this game? any answers would help, i also lowered all my settings to 640X480 etc and low settings with barely any results..:hmph: thankx!
p.s i also tried memory optimizer with no results.. thanx

inbuilt graphic cards always suxx, and installing directX 9c wont have any use if you dont have a directX 9 card to begin with. and those are the likes of nvidia, or ati

I would suggest a more powerful video card.

(Personally, I think the ATi 9800 Pro is class, depends on your budget for buying a card).

thanx

yeah its not a dell its a hp :D, anyways im checking out that ati 9800 256meg right now thanx do you guys know if installing an older version for the time being would help it run a bit smoother? thanx

Installing any modern graphics card should make it run smoother, even a Geforce FX 5200. Integrated graphics shouldn't touch any game.

Yeah, you definitely need to get a video card. I'd suggest a x800 if you have the cash, or a 9800 if you don't.

okay one more quick question .. thanx for all the help i really appreciate it but here is my open gl settings , maybe you guys know some tweaks...

hl2 doesnt use opengl.

*this thead made me laugh at you*

serisously, an integrated graphics card? OMFG!

Your processor CANNOT make up for the terrible video card. Get a real one if you want to play Half-Life 2. There's no way you could expect to play the latest games on that thing.

thanks hadouken,
im probably going to get the x800 sapphire card, i feel sorry for the other people that think any question is a stupid one..thats what i thought these posts were for... Quick answers...i havent played computer games in awhile and i thought it was open gl.... but i just love this game i am at the level with the bugbait..see yall online :D peace

Okay I have the EXACT SAME computer as you buddy, and you're in for some hard work. I spent 10+ hours on this research thing for my computer, and you have PCI computer, which cannot run any real video card, get the Geforce 5200 if you can, not much better though. And your power supply is a mere 250 volts. Any new graphics card needs at least 350 volts. So your screwed in both ways. I'm personally thinking of getting a Geforce 5200, because best buys lied to me and told me this was a PCI-Express. Your best bet is this card (Best PCI card I know of):

Yeah... You just revived a nine-month old thread. I doubt he still has the problem anymore.

But you gave a solution, so I think the moderators will let you slide :p

Haha, I'm sorry. I'm looking at it US times, And thought it was 12-02-2005. Which is like 1 month off then what it really is. Realised after. Haha.

Actually, if he were to go to best buy or something, the 9800 pro is more expensive sadly, around 250 bucks, that's pretty bs, when you can get the
x800 pro for possibly 200 online? :)
