Hello, Im new here, and I have a noob question (I think). I searched, but only found out that I should update my drivers, and they are updated.

So I bought a new graphics card to play Battlefield 2. Its just to hold me over 'till christmas when I might get a new computer. I "upgraded" from a Gerfore Ti 4200 128mb to an ATI R. 9550 256mb. The install went smooth, and I played battlefield 2 for a few days, and I noticed it was always choppy. Like when I would turn, it was choppy, but when I move slow its not that bad. After playing only CS:S for a few months, I got really used to aiming for the head... and being able to quickly. Now on BF:2 Its so choppy, when I try to aim at some one, it almost seems to lag, and I attempt to move the crosshairs on the enemy, but its so choppy I can never get it on them with one move of the mouse. I have to repostition like 3 times cause I overshoot or undershoot from the "lag" of the screen.

I was thinking BF:2 was that demanding of a game, so I put in BF:V and had the original setting on high for my geforce4, and it was worst than BF:2. I put BF:V on the all low settings and 1024x768 res, and it worked fine unless I was in an area with alot of activity, then the lag came a little. My gerforce ran fine on high setting and 1024x768.

I then noticed HL:2 lagging too, I kept the original settings of med. gfx.

My BF:2 settings are on low, and screen resy is 1024x768@70hz.

System specs:
P4 2.8
512ram
ati 9550 APG8x 256mb
hp f70 monitor set at 70hz refresh rate

Any other info that you need?
Thanks in advance.
Note: No other programs running while I play. Im testing in single player.

It could be connection problems for BF2. what is your connection? edit: nevermind

try defragmenting. Or some more RAM.

Yeah, a lot of people have been saying that BF2 does play pretty badly unless its on at least 1024mb RAM, well thats what i've gathered from old threads anyway.

I defragged, and my system runs smoother, but my games are still bad. The problem is im getting choppy graphics with all my games. Im going to re-install all my drivers tonite and see if that helps.

try playing in 800x600 if that helps and isnt usually chopping in games caused by cpu throttling

Thats it.. thanks for your help everyone. Now BF:2 is fun.
