Hi

I'm working on a scool project about why we in Sweden eat ham on christmaseve and not something else. And i need to compare my results with why amerikans eat turkey when they celebrate christmas.
So if anyone know why the eat turkey over there in the states it would be great if you could tell me (I't would be even greater if you lived there :) ).

Or maby you have a link to a great webbpage that could help me??

Thanx for your help.

Its obvious why they eat turkey there sorta, its a large bird and its cheap. I prefere duck/chicken.

Yea sure it's cheap but I need a really good reason to put in my report like for example.
"They eat turkey i amerika because Honest Abe says so."
or something like that.

I like the taste of turkey more than ham, but we always have a turkey and a ham.

Most Americans eat ham on Christmas.

For Thanksgiving, it was declared the "official food for thanksgiving" by Theodore Roosevelt (IIRC) to help the turkey industry out.

why not christmas chicken? they both taste the same :p

turkey with stuffed ham

My family eats both ham and turkey Im not sure why we eat turkey though maybe something with pilgrims and indians?

British people eat Turkey at Christmas, American's eat a Ham and i think Italians eat fish.

I eat Goose at christmas. God knows why but it's damn nice. Think duck, only bigger :D

I prefer ham over turkey. Never really cared for the taste of turkey.

I'm from Canada and I've never heard of this Ham tradition..

Must be strictly American.

the reason american's eat turkey for christmas... left overs from thanks giving!

actually my family eats ham for christmas not turkey
