Cities...

So, how many other cities must there be remaining, this next screenshot shows that several cities are reasonably close to City 17, meaning there must be atleast one hundred around the world....

Take a look, this is from the trainstation in the early minutes of HL2...

Also, I wonder what CNCT stands for....

So, DISCUSS about the amount of cities and about the cities in general :D

I see no city higher than 27.
 
I doubt theres only 27 but I also doubt theres more the 60.
 
It's probably 27 cities that can be reached from those tracks meaning 27 in Europe or eastern Europe. I'm sure there are more in America.
 
Australia is one big Antlion land :D. I think there are more cites but not with directly connection to c17.
 
Ha! Antlions wouldn't stand a chance against Australia's wildlife. That stuff is ****ed up.

Ok... well, what do you mean by cities? If you mean, City 1, c2, c3, c4, c5... , c27, etc... Then probably about 50 maybe... Possibly 100.

But I mean, did the Combine give a place like 'New York' a new name? Is it still a city, is it more of a ghost town, or did the combine decide to keep it orginal and give it a boring ol' re-name of some random number like 'City 12'?

Does Valve say much on what Cities, capitals, states, and countries are still around from now, to the days of the Combine take over?

It'd be cool find out though. I guess Valve were smart in not telling us what cities are around and what cities arn't - They have a million possibilites open to them for cities, countries and places Gordon can travel too in future games (if any).

I wonder if my little town still exists in the time of the Combine, or if it's just a little pile of rubble?
 
If they had cities in North America why would the go to the bother of relocating all those Americans to Eastern Europe? We have no evidence to suggest that there are more than 27 cities.

We have no evidence to suggest there isn't either. It's a bit naive to think the City 17 is the center of Earth don't you think? That everyone living in Europe (if thats even what it's called), are the last of civilization?

If the Combine took over the entire Earth... I think they'd want to stretch there legs out a bit and take over/build more cities... And relocate people there and around them.

Why would they want to do that? That would require them to spend even more resources.

Require them to spend even more resources? ummm ok... I doubt they're looking at this as if they were playing AOE. When they took over Earth, they took over Earths 'resources' along with it... If they took of the entire earth in 7 hours with their own resources, I think they got more then enough to spare, don't you?

I'm sure they didn't just take over earth so they could look at the wide, open, empty spaces they'd left behind in their destruction. Heck no! If I were the combine, I'd use the rest of my resources to build my own combine cities... A combine kingdom even.
 
The cities aren't permanent. When the Combine are done with humanity they won't be nessisary.
 
What are they going to do with them then? Disassemble them? Make Earth into an industrial planet? What?

oh ok... Well if what you are stating is true, I think the combine are stupid... What was the point in taking over Earth if they aren't going to do anything with it?

What will they do when they are done with humanity? Sit in there tiny little sum of 27 cities, and smoke Ciggars and drink brandy all day?
 
When they're done with humanity they'll have new slaves and soldiers for the empire and they'll have a planet full of resources to suck dry or to build proper facilities on.

Earth is a great planet though... Why not just build an empire there? If they really are so worried about resources, won't they spend even more finding and taking over yet another planet? Not to mention the fact that, they would have to relocate the prisoners and soldiers to an entirely new planet besides Earth... When they could just as easily relocated them around the planet they were already on...
 
There won't be prisoners. There will be mindless slaves and soldiers who can be relocated easily.
 
I this debate has become a little irrelevant and I don't either of us really gets what the other is saying.

Once again, I say that I wish Valve would give more hints on the other cities such as images, videos ect. This would expand the already cool setting and world of HL.

Also, Aussies got owned..

I know what your saying... I just don't see why the Combine bothered to take over Earth if they weren't gonna use it... Seems like a waste of time and resources to me.

Ok then, does an Eastern European timetable tell you what trains there are to: Adelaide, Tokyo, Shanghai, Cape Town and so on? It's ludicrous to imagine that every conceivable city is going to be on those timetables.

And City 25 is London, UK. A friend of a friend said he found out when he was shown a top-secret copy of 'Raising the Bra' by Valve's secretary. That's right, I dispatch spies to Valve's offices now.

Exactly. As if there are only 27 cities left on the entire Earth.
 
I do wonder if all the cities still exist.

For example, if the cities are 1-30, if all 30 are still in once piece.
 
CNCT to me is obviously Connection...thats what Ive always associated it with...

I dont think there is much left of America...most Americans would be more than willing to fight back, IMO, leaving methinks lots of areas that are just destroyed or possibly even nuked by our own Gov't in an attempt to stop the invasion....Europe, on the other hand, has been pretty much disarmed by its governments and once the proper militaries were destroyed there would be little to stop an invading force...same goes for much of Asia....South America is pretty unorganized, the majority of armed forces there being militias with no dedication to their commanders...same goes for Africa...pretty easy to overrun...

I see most of America and Canada a wasteland...

They are. The citadels are mining the earth's land, and the portals are translocating the earth's water.
 
Besides, everyone in HL2 has American accents. Besides Cubbage.

New York is most likely destroyed, did you see the picture in Hl2 (screeny plz), I wouldnt put my bets on that remaining intact.
