Well I don't know if anyone noticed but the Colonization clone for the civ IV engine came out a few days ago. It's kind of awesome although lacking in content (perhaps staying true to the original?)

It's, yeah, good but let down due to lack of content.

Discuss.

Meh. Unless it brings with it graphical updates to the original Civ IV, not so interested.
Also, why not in the games section?

ah ****. I seriously thought I was in the games section. Sorry.

It updated the water graphics, but nothing else I've noticed.

Yeah I saw that but that's only for the expansion, right? I mean, I couldn't buy it and get the new shiny water for Beyond the Sword, right?

how is it anyway? how does it play? compared too other Civs?

I'd say Civilization: Revolution on consoles will still beat it.

They're completely different games.

I know, but they are both Civilzation and both RTS.

Colonisation isn't really a Civilisation game, it's just called that because it uses the engine.

Ah, very good. :D

Civilization has to be congratulated for the way its turn-based system works. It's not annoying like most others, it actually feels sensible having it.

I got it, tis my first Civ game and I'm finding it really hard to learn, no tutorial with it and the tip pop-ups are vague.

Played an hour so far and not really got too far, don't understand how to get military units or build roads (with Pioneer). :(

It's not really a Civ game Mutley.

Try asking in a thread on civfanatics.com or something. I can't personally help, haven't bought Colonisation yet.

Military units can't be built untill you have weapons and a building called an armory, but to get an armory and weapons you need tools and you need to buy these from someone, or build a blacksmith in a city with access to iron and import them to town with armoury to be turned into weapons if need be.

This probably isn't very specific, but it gives you a pretty good idea right?

I've just tried that and a Cannon takes 299 turns or costs 3500g, how will I ever have the time or money to produce a single cannon?

I don't understand this game at all and there is no tutorial, it's driving me insane.

You checked the manual yet?

Imort wood aswell, but the best option is to just sell a lot of crap to Europe, the game is heavily based on making the money to build things.

I'm getting the hang of it now.

However the automation doesn't seem to work all the time, like I select a unit to Auto Explore and he doesn't more, same with Pioneer for Improving Ground of setting Trade Routes to Europe. Any ideas? They just don't do anything when I click the button so far into the game.
