I know there's another thread, this one is going to be more formal.

Anyway, so I bought the DS version because I don't want to sit and play another game I already have watered down, I want a handheld version. Started it up, and so far I'm liking it. It's not so watered down it's super easy, although some of the UI is a bit tricky. The units are sufficiently made, so there aren't fifty different unit types, (most of the modern age infantry and vehicles are put together into 2 different units- Modern Infantry, and Tank.) Although for my first game I played on the easiest difficulty and killed everyone by 1920, being ages ahead of all of them. My one tank killed everything. :o

Anyone else bought it yet? :D

The battles are fun to watch. :D

No comprende senor.

The things I liked about Civilization was that there were shitloads of unit types. :/

Too many in a handheld game would have gotten a bit too complicated.
I can still play Civ4, of course. Not wasting $60 on a console version.

Just tried out the demo on 360, seems quite fun. It's definitely a watered down version, but I actually like that they've stripped out a good deal of the micro-management stuff (ie - workers, city happiness/health) as that always sort of bogged the whole thing down for me in the late-game. Was a rare occasion that I ever actually finished a game in Civ IV. :P

So basically it's Civ for the ADD generation, which is great if you're anything like me. Not about to rush out and spend $100 on it, but I'll probably grab it if and when it drops in price.
