So I've finally got the hardcopy of PC Gameplay on my desk and I can now clearly read the subtitle of the Half-Life 2 statement on the cover. It reads (behold):

"Half-Life 2, De volledige review: absoluut subliem maar VALVe heeft ook een minder leuke verrassing in petto..."

Which is translated into english as:

"Half-Life 2, The complete review: absolutely fabulous, but VALVe also has/have a less enjoyable suprise up its/their sleeve..."

And so it's cleared up to me that the bad-surprise is indeed the fact that there's no HLDM and only CS:S for MP.

If it was already posted, sorry then. I just wanted to clear up what was printed on the cover.

Yes it was already posted... Like... 5 days ago.

There is another thread about this same topic on the main page, I suggest read through that... many good points are outlined in thoose posts...

Sadly a lot of people confuse this news. They think HL2 will ONLY support CS:S. Not true. Just means that the main multiplayer is CS:S. Mods will still be mods, and DoD:S will be available later on. And since a good portion of the multiplayer community doesnt really even play HLDM, it's not that big of a loss.

Wasn't it PC Gamer that promised the surprise? And wasn't the surprise directly related to CS:S - "it's CS:S but with a few surprises" or something.

To be honest, I think there's a sizeable number of people out there who don't really care about multiplayer at all.

I mean, vanilla DM, again? Joy. More Counter Strike? Great, just what the world needs.

thats not the surprises we were talking about. the surprises are in cs:s. and pc gamer, pc gameplay we knew had nothing special.
