Ok People, heres the deal.
I've had alot of people say that a modern realistic type game in Iraq would rock. But i've also heard that bring unrealistic type of game play into it would make for a good mod. Heres your chance to vote on what we do. For which ever you vote, please post your opinion, and for unrealistic, give us ideas here. We're not sure what your looking for!
thanks
snow  cheers to the winner!

I PMed you back. Also realistic would rock. I think sometime in the near future is good. Like 2005.

I don't think this topic belongs here... but that's up to the moderators to decide.

Anyways, if you know what realism in a game is... then try that because despite what people think, it hasn't been done. Only one mod (Hostile Intent for Half-Life) is realistic and that isn't publicly released yet.

yo, its not about what we want, Its about what u want. If your only making a mod for other people than u might as well stop now. All we are, well I am. Is trying to guide u into getting the best from your mod and also my opinion on the mods etc... If you want to make a realistic mod then do it. Just think of it this way. They will be at least 1000+ mods for hl2 within the first year and there has been at least 100,000+ for hl1. Out of all them only 3 mods have ever got anywhere. So really its kinda an assential thing been popular with everyone else, because u have a very very slim chance of anyone playing your mod anyway. I am not trying to put u down or say that u will fail. Its just simple that not many people play loads of games and only a certain amount of mods will make it. Just basiclly be realistic with your self.

The mod I am working for (in signiture) has a good idea and I like the whole enviroment its going to be based in. But it does have flaws and I am not expecting anything from it really. I want to create a mod because I want game design experiance and I like working in a team with other people. I have loved anime for over 6 years so why not make a mod based on it. What I am trying to way is that it really doesn't matter what other people think (well it does but its not assential to you really)

lol, If i'm going to do what i want i want in the mod, then you need to stop with all your stuff about wanting something new, if you want something new, do it yourself. The success on this mod depends on what we do with the skills we're handed. I've been into the whole modding scene for a while now, and I've seen many mods becuase popular easyly. And second, thats not what i care about most. I care about making a quality mod. If ... when that happens, and when we publicize, then it will have a chance. I would worrie about where your own mod goes, rather than ours.
thanks

If it is realisitc then this sounds a lot like National Crisis! Which will feature a modern combat system. The difference is we're based across the world whereas you'll be in Iraq!!!

Hey, we don't need any "my mod is bigger than your MOD" stuff. Personally, I'm ignoring other MODs on a practical level, and I encourage them to do well. When my MOD is released it will be nothing but awesome, but I don't need to compare my MOD to other people's MODs. I just let other MODs compare themselves to mine.

Hey dude, don't wanna start an arguement but i never said that NC was better! I was just pointing out that they would be similar - I didn't want to berate this mod! Just thought I'd clear that up :D!

Argh! All of these realism claims really bother me... that article is coming along by the way...

What 'realism claims'??

I assume it'll be in the article :D!!

It sure will ;) Basically I define what a 'realistic' game is, which must contain at least 3 of the 4 elements that make up a 'realistic' game. Hopefully this will define how mods consider themselves or others to be realistic.

9 to 9. we've decided to go realism. I can't wait to read this article, maybe it'll give us an idea on the realism people are looking for!

hmmm.... u said your mod will be awesome, I supose its alright to say this as your own opinion. But if u are saying this meaning what other people will think of it then I think u need to think again. I am not saying u will not make an awesome mod but just think of this. In 5 years of mod making for hl1 there has at least been 100,000 atempts at mods. Only 3-5 of them have ever lasted and even then none of them have come close to beating CS. CS has about 17,000 servers running at one time and the clostest to it is proberly dod or ns with about 700. So what makes u think that your mod will be awesome? I don't know if I get what your saying and what I just said may not apply to u because u could have ment something else with what u said. So don't start shuting at me if I am wrong.
