Coast Video MUSIC

Bah! Did anyone else find the music on the "COST" video really annoying? Too techno for my liking.. I just hope that they dont have music like that in the actuall game..
They should make it like DOOM 3, the sounds around you go togather, and make the music..

Yeah, I didnt really like it. Sounds like something townies would play really loud in their VW golfs.

The BASE-LOOP in the "COAST" BINK was ok.. but i didn't like the Drum&Bass..

and this has already been discussed in another thread??

It rattles my brain in my skull, I hope you can turn it off.

You can turn off music in most games...

I thought the music was barable. Though Half-Life isn't really known for it's music (my god was it horrible in HL1.)

Don't worry, I'm sure you can just turn off the music if you don't like it. Plus there will be plenty of ambient sounds to keep the ear interested.

Yes, you can turn the music off if you want. This has been discussed in other threads I beleive.

you know...that might not be the actual music in the game...maybe it's just for the demo??

Then why would they use it? They're therre to showcase the game, it makes sense that they use music from the game as well.

I personally liked it. it makes a nice change from all the pop-industrial-metal from games like Unreal Tournament.

I enjoyed the music in HL1, and the Coastline stuff, it makes a nice change from what I listen to regularily.

Now, think about those people who listen to this kind of music everyday.. and plays HL2.. Do they get a Fresh new experience... as fresh as yours?

Sure the tunes are different.. but still..

Even if im not so hype about that kind of music in such a "realistic" game.. i wont turn the music off...

I want to play the game as Gabe & Valve wanted me to play it.
That means.. with music ON..

is that another way of saying u like the music, or u dont like real techno?

I liked it. Probably because i've been listening to Electronica for several years now.

Unfortunately for you non-electronica fans it seems there won't be other themed music.

I also asked gabe if it would be possible to release a track or something for the public, but i didn't get an answer. And since we're already spoiled with the coastline music we could almost as well use that.

when the game comes out you might be able to put your own music in as long as its in the same format like mp3 all you have to do is change the name say if if the coastline music was called coastline you would change your music title to that and just coppy over it and back it up 1st the origanal.

hope that makes sence

I really dig electronica and listen to almost all kinds of music, but that particular bit of music in the coast bink really stank, the tempo was wrong and not very well timed. The music should set the mood and fit in well with what you are doing at the moment, It should perhaps not be like a song you would listen to otherwise. Although I must say, that kind of music worked very well in BF: vietnam.

I love the music, it really adds to the feel of the game. Although, like Fisker_Q, I've been listening to all manner of electronica for quite a while.

If I could improve the song in any way I would change it to something like Juno Reactor, maybe "Badimo" or something like that. Just speculating. :p

the musics good generally, but taht music got worse and worse, it was the whining ("doo doo dee dee deee deee") that stands out and doesnt fit the mood of what's going on.

I hope they change it. The music in HL1 was great.

The Coast vid music is badass. I can't wait to play it with the music loud and the sounds cranked up. I also can't wait to get the soundtrack in my hands and listen to it elsewhere. Valve knows what they are doing, and though the music might not play at the same time it does in the Bink, I'm sure that track will be played at some point(s). You guys that didn't like the music so much might change your mind after listening to it alone and in high qual.

One thing that jumps right out at me is that the music doesn't remind me of any other games (whereas a lot of game music is reminiscent of other games in the same genre). While it's playing, I'm sure it'll keep me firmly rooted in the HL2 setting and keep the adrenaline pumping till the end.

That's the kind of music that HL had and therefore I like it. Mostly it's quite mood/pace setting.

I liked it, was a bit too loud though, overwhelming.

If that was at level 10, I'd put it at 5.

I agree, the music itself was good, but to loud compared to the rest of the game.

It was indeed a little...in the way; almost seemed as though Gordon had the radio on or something. :)

I'd turn it down too, so it fits more into the elevator music sound category, rather than rock (though, I love rock, just don't want HL2's music to be that loud).

The coastline music was okay, fortunately there was much better music in my opinion.

The tunnels video had awesome music.. very moody.
The strider fight scenes have good music.
Bugbait had great music.. very much like HL1.
Barricade had the best song.

Traptown had the worst music, IMO. Very bland.

pmsl :D
too true

I liked it quite a bit, though I'm normally not an electronica (or whatever genre this was) kind of person. As others mentioned, I'd turn it down a bit though. I didn't notice the music as much in binks like traptown/bugbait if I recall correctly, don't have those lying around anymore.

its my favorite song ive heard so far in hl2, i love it! *runs off and watches the coast bink*

that music be good from Terminator3 where shes riding the silver lexus that be kewl

I like the music very much and it gives you the feeling of beeing pushed in the game! Like in movies ^^

I think the music is fantastic, really goes well with the game, as it did in hl1

thank you

fools need to do their homework before they talk smack

what you're hearing is tech-step drum and bass, on the forefront of the uk's underground scene, and if honestly haven't noticed yet, it's popping up everywhere, in commercials, movies, and television, due to it's atmospheric nature, it often goes unnoticed.

Personally, I hated it. Of course, I turn music off in all games anyway, so it doesn't bother me much. *shrug*

i think all the music they use in hl is great and so far the soundtrack for hl2 sounds even better!

usually I listen to metal or trance. I even play in a metal band and make my own trance-music too. My absolutely biggest interest is music. But this drum and base music kicks ass =) At least I think it fits in the game in some places..
I know someone who played the leaked byggy-ass version, and he said that the music in the game is like.... like it fits into the environment and changes during play. Sometimes it's not even like music. more like strange sounds. And he is very pleased with it.
