CoD2 being buggy

CoD2 is being extremely buggy. I cant even get past the intro where you practice shot. Its all related to the scripted triggers. Sometimes nothing happens, no one will say anything. When he tells me i have 15 seconds to shot the helmets, the timer never starts. Or when i throw the potatoes into the bathtub/window/door it wont recognize it. Just annoying bugs that forces me to restart the level like 5 times to make it work.

I bought this game, however, i lost the 1st CD. So i pirated it but used my real Cd-Key. This could be the reason why. Now i know what you are all thinking, that im lying. I can take photos of my case and cd2 with a note saying "hl2.net ravioli" if you really want me to prove it.

Is there a way i can fix these bugs? or do i have to buy a whole new copy? Are these bugs common?

Not to judge to be jackass or anything but the CD's must be different version I guess.

I didnt use my second CD though, the only thing i used from my copy was the cd-key, which really shouldnt alter the game files at all. But maybe its just the pirated verison itself...damnit

I think i got it working, i installed patch1.3 and so far there hasnt been any problems (second level now). Thanks for trying to help me!

Finally i can enjoy this awesome game on full graphics for the first time
