codec help needed for hl2 video

I downloaded this 392 mb compressed version of the hl2 video from here

I cant get it to work. all players say an mp4v codec is required. tried quick time 6 too. has anyone tried this vid?

nop. have tried all kinds of codecs. i think the download is screwed. im getting the 664 mb one to bbe on the safe side. take 2 days on my conn . thx anyway.

can you find the gspot? its a codec information prog. it scans the file and tells you if you have the codec and if you dont it tells what codec you need.
