Seems like this US-Russia relation during these last few years have dropped quite a lot. The question is, are we seeing a new Cold War here?

Excuse me if I'm mistaken here, but hasn't World War 2 already come and gone? During the 1980s, I believe.

No, it's just Russia being critical of America's foreign policies (and hey, he's even got good points). Russia isn't communist any longer and they sure as hell aren't ready to get into anything, especially with America again.

Are you doing that on purpose? get lost, you prick.

Would you be surprised?
Putin is slowly but securely turning Russia back into a dictatorship, he's ex-KGB and has systematically been filling up government posts with close friends of him that were hardliners within the Soviet Union, I even recall there being rumours about some off them participating in the failed Second October Revolution..

Now now, Walter! Jesus has commanded you to love me! We will have none of that language from you.

On-topic note: I agree with Gargantou that there has been a disturbing trend towards dictatorship policies. While I do not think there is an imminent threat of any kind of war, I agree that Russia is seemingly acting nuts with their behavior, not including their little game of footsy they have with the Middle East.

Hmm...but is that something compared to what USA has become? I don't know why are they calling Putin a dictator, must have something to do with Gas.
Oh look! they've had enough of selling cheap gas to Belarus(which they were later selling to Europe for global price). Bad Russia!

Maybe it has too do with secretively assassinating overcritical journalists, trying to cover it up with a so called investigation, blaming it on two guys via SATELLITE OMFG PHOTOS.. Lots of new policies being implemented in Russia by Putin have been done to increase power to him and his closest friends, while decreasing democratic power.

You've been brainwashed by mainstream media bs. There is no real evidence yet to support that claim.

So what? If they're experienced people then why not, that's not an argument to be calling that a dictatorship. Russia's not the only ex-soviet country to do that too. Those people are old and experienced (Of course those that exploited their positions are now trialed/in jail).
But it doesn't make a dictatorship out of that. What, you have to ban everyone from participating in elections if he's at least over 40 ? I think it's the other way around.
And why people call Putin a dictator? he'll stop being president in 2008, the constitution of Russia forbids from taking the seat of president for more than 2 times.

Acualy Putin might stay president longer, and is secretly tring to make that happen one way or another.

Cptstern, may i have permission to use your favourite word right now :D?

You bastard  ...

He has a point. You flame far too much, and you should stop now before you get warned or worse, understand?

...

"...anyone who is angry with a brother will be subject to judgment. Anyone who says, "You fool" will be subject to the fires of hell."

>< Jeeeesuuuus!

Don't blaspheme. And Mecha, who the f*ck is the werewolf.

The thing which i've noticed is that US has a mentality to hate it's rivals. Maybe that's the problem.

 coulnd't resist ay?

I don't think it will be a cold war this time. Buy underground bunkers people. This time you'll really need them.

He got some points, but Putin is hardly the man to make them.

Oh noo... the first one was pretty cool, but sequels always suck. :( They're not gonna use any of the actors from the first one I'll bet.

Frankly I now harbour a simmering hatred of Putin.

In Russia, it's unsafe to drink the tapwater, so I had to subsist on quite expensive mineral water. FFS PUTIN

Plus, he's got little real political opposition. There's his party, and then there's a load of others that nobody can see getting anywhere for a long time.

Not to mention his slightly scary Hitler-Youth-Lite youth wing.

I think this whole arms race is going to be mainly in the missle defence/superweapon technology. Everything other doesn't matter as much these days, now with all the tomahawks and simmiliar weaponry available.
