Kind of reminds me of the game World Builder on the old Mac classic. You created rooms and objects with an image editor and then used a simple form of basic to program the game. Spent so many hours on that thing as a kid.

Awesome. I always liked this kind of "program your own AI" approach.

I tried to get this to work in the past but was unable to for some reason.

I do wish they had some updated versions with like some .NET compatible languages and code.

you mean...the game doesn't work or something else? because it works fine for me

There is an opensource Java project almost identical in nature to this. Can't remember what it's called.

I played a game similiar to this, was even older though, late 80s or possibly early 90s, you had to code your robots AI in BASIC and then duke it out.

This game is the best game I've played in ages. Why didn't I know about it?

How old is this by the way?

Looks pretty damn old. Say what you will about this being one of the nerdiest games ever, but theres something hugely satisfying about watching robots flawlessly do your bidding, knowing you programed them. Some of the programs people have written are absolutely insane, and almost add an unfair advantage (check out their forum I think).

I mean, I start out liking these games, but the monotony of putting in code gets to me, and I go play a shooter instead.

...or you could assemble a simple robot and then program it with C++? A few hours work, and you have something concrete to show for it.

That way at least you learn something new.

I lost you in the first 3 letters of 'work'.
