Combat Mission anyone?

Anybody here play the amazingly good, albeit graphically bland Combat Mission games Beyond Overlord, Barbarosa to Berlin, or Afrika Korps?

I like Afrika Korps alot. Going back to the battles withGermany/italy again Britain/united states etc which I prefer. The graphics seem to have improved which I like, though they are still very subpar compared to most modern games. Additional graphic features which also include tactical elements such as dust plumes and stuff are great. Nothing like being in a defensive position and not being able to see an advancing tank column, but being able to see the dust plumes they create! heh heh.

Nice, sounds good.
Barbarossa was fun playing as the Russians, especially having the KV battle tanks as the Germans Panzer II-III tanks didn’t stand a chance against them. Mohaha.

Btw, Combat Mission is one of very few games that have gotten the MG42 gun firing sound absolutely right.

Playing the russians is hard. You need to adapt a completely different strategy with them compared to the germans. The russians are far more effective in close combat, with both tanks and infantry. Their tanks lack the optics of the german armor, and their infantry... well, i'm sure you know about that too

I'll just say this. The russian sub machine squad with the PPPsh sub machine gun is absolutely devastating in very close ranges. Over 400 firepower! <wobbles>

Heh, actually I found it harder playing as the Germans. No idea why.
