Combine exclusive use of H&K weaponry

Another topic in great debate on my RP community.

Going by retail, the combine only use two H&K guns, though, they only used three guns besides that. Two of which were of their own design and the third being the Franchi SPAS-12.

However, in the beta they were going to use: MP7, MP5k, USP Match, GR9, OICW. There were no other non-H&K guns in the beta used by the combine other than the Franchi SPAS-12 and the fictional combine weapons.

Do you think the Combine use H&K Exclusively?

IIRC it's just a joke by Valve because H&K make guns almost exclusivly for the US government or something like that.

Not exclusively, because they used their own weapons and the franchi-spas. But I think you just worded it funny.

I think they use H&K because they're good guns, as far as I kknow, and because they generally look rally cool. I mean, if I were a multi-universal superpower I'd only give my minions the coolest looking guns available.

<Continuing>... the coolest looking guns available. Which is Why the have their pulse rifles!

But those guns DO look awesome...

H&K have been selling weapons to a number of coutnries, from Israel to Britain, France to Germany, H&K weapons can be seen in almost ever army in the world, even the combine :p

I think the Devs have picked H&K weapons in particular due to their futuristic appearance and basically because they work very well, the OICW and the MP7 are newer weapons from H&K which may be the reason they are being used, to keep up to date and to emphasise the futurism of HL2.

Besides, Heckler & Koch is an European-based company, from Germany.

East Europe i believe, which would tie in well with German weapons being used, then again, there are a bumber of weapon manufacturers in eastern europe, for example the CZ 2000 would have made a suitable weapon for the combine, although it is simply an updated AK47, as i said before, H&K were probably used because -

1) Futuristic looking weapons
2) Number of different calibres available to show different strengths for each weapon (H&K USP = 50., MP7 = 4. (or 4.6mm, cant remember exactly)
3) Why spend money getting agreements from different manufacturers when you can get all the weapons you need from one.
